Best Buy- 50 Fuji Spindle -$5

Postby aviationwiz on Sun Sep 07, 2003 11:09 am

Best Buy has a 50 pack of Fuji media for $5. I'd stop by your local store, and take a look and see if they are TY, if they are TY, I would recomend stocking up before you have to start buying TY online.

I just got back from my local BestBuy. They had the TY disks, so I picked up 100 CD's.

I picked up a couple of spindles at BB.

Interestingly, I stopped by OfficeMax on my way to BB and they only had "Made in Taiwan" Fuji CDRs (50-pack and 100-pack).

It seems like when the current supply of TY Fuji's are gone, we'll be out of luck finding them in B&M stores.

Made in Taiwan Fuji disc?!?!? :o

When did this all happen? I must have away from the CD-R world for far too long. I guess I better stop off at Best Buy and pick up a spindle.

Very nice deal for TY, with no rebates!

I would have been all over this in the past, but I have 800 or so blank

I have been focusing on DVD burning for a while now.
Burners only:
Pioneer DVR-115D
Pioneer DVR-111D
Plextor PX-716A TLA0304
Plextor PX-716A same TLA

LiteOn 52246S (another)
LiteOn 52327S 52X CD-RW

Wow, 800 CD-R's. You could make a small fortune selling those on ebay.

I have about 200-250 CD-R's. I will probably use them in around 4-5 months. Depends on how much stuff I have to burn.

That might not be a bad idea :)
I had someone here interested a while back in buying my old spindles (aka bee hives, which are sold online), of which I have a bunch (15 maybe?). I wasn't selling them (at the time), but I mentioned I had a bunch.
Now that I use albums for my CD/DVD discs, I don't need the spindles for anything.
I could probably get a nice chunk of change for the 800 blanks (almost all of them are 40X and above) and the extra 'bee hives'.

Oh, thanks for clarifying that since it wasn't mentioned.
Then it is still a good deal for TY, but not as hot as I originally thought :)

In any case, I believe the last CD-Rs I bought were 100 Maxell 650 MB 40X. They were only $4.94 after coupon (shipped free) from Staples with NO rebate. I didn't have much need for them, but couldn't resist.
I figured I would eventually use them...

They were out of the Optimum, and were subbing the Maxell and giving an instant rebate.

Hi, I was wondering what TY stood for and how do you check for it?

TY stands for Taiyo Yuden and you can check to see if your disks are TY in Nero CD Speed.

I know this is an old thread - but does the Made in Taiwan come in the same cakebox that the Made in Japan TY does?

I haven't seen the Made in Taiwan discs, but I've heard that they come in a package that looks much more like the packages used for CMC discs.

Thanks - I will avoid them like the plague! I bet they'll have the thin ridge at the top like Imation's cakeboxes do.

Has any checked the status of their rebate at www.myrewards.info ? I sent mine in a month ago and it still says new. (I registered for the fast cash back in 20 days deal).

www.myrewards.info is a sham. You never get your rebate in 20 days.

Yeah, mine still says new as well, and it has been a month. I hope I get my rebate at all.

Same here. After 2 months, it finally says that they are processing the rebate. I guess it doesn't hurt to try to get it sooner by registering.

I've never done a rebate through myrewards.info, but the one Fuji rebate which I have received (the others were sent recently) took 2 or 3 months.
