BTC badged as a pacific digital

Postby Lugnut on Wed Jan 29, 2003 7:12 pm

I'm having some serious problems with a 24x10x40 pacific digital that shows up in the device manager as a BTE BCE 2410IM manufactured by Top-G

I cannot get the drive to recognize any type of CD-R discs, it will play any "store" bought music or data cd's though. But when i try to burn something it says " no disc in tray" now originally i was using a cheap cd-r so i thought ok let me whip out one of the mitui's and no way it wont even recognize theres a blank cd in the drive. Not even an already burnt 4x backup data cd i had on a mitsui that i made with my old Sony ( Which has been awesome to me over the years but is getting to be too slow at 12x )

I try to look for firmware upgrades from BTC i see none for this drive. even the ones that are there i cant seem to download the flash program anyways since the link is dead. Does anyone have a solution to this or have any idea?

I appreciate it thanks.
P.S. Sorry forgot to mention i run winxp pro sp1 with a p4 on a MSI 648MaxL, No other drives are on the ide channel with the BTC I also have tried it on an older p3 machine with the same symptoms.

I looked for firmware for this particular drive all over this forum and on the net if anyone has firmware for it can you please email me at paedbo@optonline.net or if theres any other compatible firmware??? I doubt reflashing the firmware is going to help me but thought i'd give it a shot, maybe this unit is a left over nightmare from an OC'r that was returned who knows.

BTE BCE 2410IM manufactured by Top-G

I had a BTE BCE 2410IM manufactured by Top-G rebadged as a Polaroid CD-RW, never got it to work properly, it did a number on CD-RW files I previously had burned on another Writer.
It is a DOG.
RMA it back to Polaroid, they sent me 32X10X40X in its place which turned out to be BenQ with the Polaroid name on it, it did work.
Check Pacific Digital for Firmware but I don't believe it will help but who knows.
If recently purchased I would try and get my money back and not exchange for another of the same.

Yes finally got the firmware from BTC A.23 didnt work however i did get the mitsui cd's to work twice out of 50 open/closes of the tray lol. This one is definetly goin back they are out of stock so no worries on a replacment. I appreciate your reply thanks, think i will just go with a lite - on. Now i just wonder if walmart actually sells any lite-on's hmmmm.
