Burner for TYG02

Postby AxBattler on Fri Dec 16, 2005 12:49 pm

A couple months ago, I was set on getting the BenQ 1640. After reading around, it seemed like the drive to get at the time (for one, it was one of the very few recent drives to get a 9/10 at cdrlabs). One of the NEC was getting good reviews too.

Fast forward to today (not that long to be honest), I see there are already new awaited drives on the horizon. LG's super multidrive also got a very favorable review.

Once again, I am only concerned about quality, and primarily for the TYG02 which is the media I currently am using (and have a fair stock of). If the drive is good for CD-ripping under EAC, it is a big plus. Performance is on the back of my mind, and I am not interested in burning my 8x media at 16x, unless there is absolutely no quality loss. Could anyone give a suggestion as to what to get, either now or in the near future?

The reason I didn't get the BenQ at the time was because I recently made a number major purchases and couldn't justify getting another drive (my Pioneer 106 still hasn't died - shocking, I've had CDRW drives that lasted less than 1/3rd the time).

The 1640 loves TYG02 and burns it better at 12x than at 8x. The 1640 can achieve 99% quality scores (CD/DVD Speed) with genuine TYG02 media.
