can having a CD writer and DVD writer cause a conflict

Postby joey523 on Mon Jan 20, 2003 8:58 pm

I have a Cendyne CD-R/RW (Lite-on) and Cendyne DVD-R/RW (Pioneer 105) when I tried to burn a CD it looked up gave meessage looking for burner. I had Windows media player (9) on PC could this conflict with Nero burn software. I hadn't installed the DVD software. I was resurching to find out what would happen with DVD burner if I had an on board video card. Has anyone run into this problem and how did you correct it. Joel :(

A CD writer and a DVD writer should be able to co-exist without issues. Windows Media Player 9 should be able to co-exist with Nero without issues.

My CD writers (Yamaha CRW2100S, Lite-On LTR-52246S) and DVD writer (Sony DRX500UL) both use Nero 5.5.10.0. My Yamaha CRW2100S is on an Adaptec AHA-2930U2, Lite-On LTR-52246S is on Secondary IDE Channel as Master, Sony DRX500UL is on either USB 2.0 / Firewire.

Possibly may want to elaborate on your setup, maybe another forum member can advise or may have encountered the issue you are having.

A CD burner and a DVD burner can coexist without problems in general. Your particular problem must be specific to your particular setup. Download Nero InfoTool at www.cdspeed2000.com, run it, and report what it says on the Configuration and ASPI tabs.

Hey lightningbaron, we must have really synched up on this one. I've seen this question sitting here for awhile but didn't feel I had anything useful to say. But when no one else said anything, I finally decided to post something, and ended up simulatenously posting the same thing you posted. We even used the same words and sentence structure. Spooky...

Just wanted to let everyone know that I finnally was able to fix the problem with having CD and DVD burner software conflict. I contacted Ahead Nero about my situation and they sent me by e-mail a program called "Clean tool" it was a zip file so you need winzip to exact it. I used the prgram and then installed software with DVD burner and everything is working fine and noproblem getting to desktop.

joey523 - Glad to hear that your issue was resolved

Hello cfitz - Very spooky indeed!, re: sentence structure, choice of words, timing.
