ANyone have any experience with a Sony DSC-P92? It looks good, 5 megapixels and I'm getting a good deal on it. Only worry is the proprietary Memory Stick format Sony use.

If you're still looking, Staples is taking 12 percent off this week.

For your budget, Casio EZ-55, Ricoh Capllo R-1 (4M only), Canon Digital IXUS 500 & Canon A95 (if for normal photo shots) seems pretty good deals. The 1st two use SD and the Canons use CF type I.
(but don't count on their video quality!)

If you want a little bit better, try Canon S60 (US$50-100 more), more to be a "prosumer" level.

Sony: I will only recommend W-1 (5M pixels), the amount you pay for the function you get is more realistic. T1, T11 and T3 are not that good, too expenisve without great add-on functions in shooting (relative to W1).
That's why T series become popular very quickly and re-selling rate are also very high in Asia. People treat them as trendy products, like fashions, and replace them for a much better and realistic DC (e.g. Casio, Canon and Panasonic. haha).

I don't really consider HP and Gateway DCs though they are really cheap.
They are not even comparable to those mainstream Japanese DCs. That's why these brands' sale are nothing in Asia, compared to US.

However, all above is my personal opinion coz we are all spoiled by Japanese electronic toys every day. Thus, Canon and Sony would be my only 2 choices in US.

Wow...thats damn costly. You can get a top notch Nikon roll camera for that kind of money.

I am lucky to have my digital camera, the Sony DCR-PC330E.I am very happy with the photo clarity that it offers,3 MP by the way.

I've been doing a lot of digital camera research of my own, and I'm strongly, strongly leaning towards this camera 5MP: Panasonic DMC-FZ20. It's between $500-600, depending on where you go. But, the previous model, the 4MP Panasonic DMC-FZ10, is going for about $450 now. And I hear because the LCD pixels are the same on both, but there is a 1 mega-pixel difference, the 4MP version is less prone to noise at higher ISO levels. They both feature 12x and image stabilization. Still not sure if I want the 4 or 5MP version...

The Panasonic DMC-FZ20 is really a cool camera. But only a 16 MB SD Card is included with it.I guess only 4-5 pics can be saved at max. resolution.
