I just installed the 500a, and the system recognizes it as a cd rom, but not a dvd burner, or cd burner for that matter. I have a plextor cd burner installed as well, and I dont know if this would cause a problem. Please help. TIA!

What OS are you running? Most don't have built-in burning software and report CD-RW/DVD/DVD-R/W drives as simple CD-ROM drives at the system level. Have you actually tried to burn with the burning software supplied with your DRU-500A? Try that and see if you really have a problem or not.

I'm running XP Pro. The software that comes with the drive does recognize it as a burner. I was trying to use PrimoDvd, but that only sees the other drive as a burner. Maybe Microsux will come out with an update for XP. Thanks.

It's not a Microsoft issue at all. You need to wait for PrimoDvd to support the drive.

Ian had the right answer for you. I also have a A05 and Prassi recognizes it but will not write to it. Prassi just has not upgraded to handle the DRU-500A and the A05.
Have fun.........Bob
