DVD+R on ebay [sandyyang78] -- any good

Postby hhp 211 on Thu Nov 27, 2003 1:42 am

its listed as Ritek--A grade--with "Arita" logo printing
after shipping its $1.80 per disk [25-pack],
Is this the good stuff [able to burn @ 8X]?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... gory=44929

25pack or less @ under $2.00 per, TDK 840g compatibale, is what I'm looking for right now

I am not familiar with these disks, but $13 for shipping a 25-spindle seems a bit high to me. You might be able to find a better deal elsewhere.

For example, Amazon currently has a 20-spindle of 4X TDK DVD+R media for $29 with free shipping. This works out to under $1.50 per disk for what I believe would be better media. I'm not sure if these would work at 8X, but according to this thread , they worked at 8X with the Plextor 708A. (I believe the TDK-840 is an OEM version of the Plextor.)
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure...

I wouldn't buy the Arita discs!

I ordered 100 of these 4X DVD+R Arita discs for my TDK 840G (Plex 708A).

Most do not burn at 8X, many burn only at 4X, and about 20% have been coasters.

They are merely OK, but TDK discs are MUCH better as they always seem to burn cleanly at 8X and I haven't had a coaster yet. Yes they cost more, but deals do come along bringing the price down to $1.20 a disc or less.

Funny, Arita 4x DVD+Rs seem to work really well on my LiteON 411s, and from what I've been told the Optorite DD0203 drive as well. It's probably just a drive incompatability.

EDIT: Scratch that, my Arita discs are only 2.4x oops! still good though!
