DVD RAW, does it exist?

Postby DVDood on Mon May 05, 2003 11:26 pm

Hi Everyone,
I've got a quick question about DVD RAW. Does it exist on any DVD writers yet? Anyone know when it might be available or is it never going to be an option?

Thanks

I don't know what I'm talking about so I'll just tell you what I'm trying to do:

My blank DVD-Rs are a darkish purple where there is no data and a lightish purple where they have been written to.

I backed up a DVD I own onto a DVD-r and something really wierd happened, the DVD-R has a dark purple ring about 5mm into the media from the hub. I suspect the original has some sort of wierdness here, but there is no RAW copy of DVD data option in any of my backup softwares.

From what I have read DVD RAW options are not available, which is a drive issue from what I understand.

So my question is, does anyone know when DVD drives will be able to do the RAW DVD reading and writing?

Thanks
