external cd-rw and usb 2.0

hi,

im was thinking of getting an external cr-rw as my case is too small to fit an internal in, however having looked at a few it looks like i need to have USB 2.0 for it to be worth bothering...
does anyone know how i can find out if i have it already or will i have to buy it as a pci card..

You will probably need to buy a pci card.
How old is your computer. If its atleast 4-6 months old odds are that you do NOT have the usb2.0 ports.
Maybe device manager might list your usb port with a giveaway name like usb 2.0 port, or something like it.
