GCC-4480B can't read back RAW DAO!

Postby webbertrix on Fri Jun 27, 2003 11:16 am

Hello,

Alcohol Support Team tested this drive, they find LG GCC-4480B cannot read the disc which is burned by itself's RAWDAO mode, but you can put the disc into another cd/dvd devices, they can read the disc very well.

It is really funny, we will report this bug to LG, let them know this problem.

Someone could give it a try.. I saw this drive was reviewed overhere.

I'm not sure if this bug came from reading back:
RAW DAO, RAW DAO-16, RAW DAO-94, RAW DAO-96 or all of them..

But i'm 100% sure that reading back RAW DAO-96 doesn't work!
(Infotool, clonecd, alchohol claim this drive should support that feature)

On the other hand TAO, SAO seems to work fine!

I would like to someone pinpoint this bug, since i own the drive and can't use it right now..

(Unless i dont use this burner to read back the cdr's it
creating..)

I had also others combo drive from LG (GCC-4120B, & GCC-4320B)
and they were working perfectly in all read/write modes.

Thanks.

crap, i bought this drive for a friend.... They'll probably never notice as they usually just use the burner for audio CDs and backups, hopefully this is a firmware problem that can easily be fixed though.

Well, ask him to burn any CD'r into RAW DAO-96, and to try to read it back.

(By example, Use Write Method [RAW DAO] into alcohol)

I'm pretty sure it wont work!

But if it could try and notice this same behavior, it will help to make some additional proof for LG to get a firmware update for fixing this ridiculous bug.

like I said, it's really not an issue for this person, but I will try to verify this behavior just so I know it exists.
