Happy Divali to All!

Postby Bhairav on Sat Oct 25, 2003 9:21 am

Well, Happy Divali to everyone. Divali is a Hindu/Jain festival which signifies the victory of Light over Darkness. It literally is the Festival of Lights. It signifies the day when Ram, the King of Ayodhya returned to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile.
It's a nice day, an excuse to stuff our faces with delicious mithai or Indian sweets.

Happy Holiday!
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the land of Mordor, where the Shadows lie

This is not a knock toward either religion, but we now have two Festivals of Lights. Hanukkah being the other. :)

Oh,that's cool. Isn't Hanukkah the time when Jewish people celebrate the rededication of their Temple in Jerusalem?
