Having Problems with burning... well.. ANYTHING...

Postby LongBow on Sat Apr 05, 2003 2:17 am

Ok... i've been stuck on this for about 3 or 4 days now... and have tried pretty much everything i know to do.. except formatting.... formatting being the least favorable solution....
My problem is that when I go to burn a cd... whichever program I use, tells me that the cd completed successfully. However when I try to read the cd, it is corrupt.
I have tried nero... roxio... and cdrwin, all come to the same problem...
I have 2 burners... 1 8x plexwriter... and 1 radioshack 24x....
both do the same thing....
running win2k btw...
i've been using verbatim cds and memorex cds
same problems
you can even see where it actually burnt information, but it's unreadable...
scanned for virus's... none found...
updated my aspi layer....
nothing that i've tried so far has even came close.....
i've even closed all the processes in the taskbar...
i stopped some windows services as well...

any ideas are welcome... i just wanna get around this without reinstalling...
thanks for the help...

Uninstall all burn programs except Nero and try Nero CDSpeed to scan CD for errors. Then try CD on another computer to be sure it can't be read.I had a similar problem and it was my drive that was bad.

Are both of the drives on the same IDE cable? If so, maybe the cable is bad.

You might also try updating your IDE drivers in Windows if the cable isn't the problem.

Aight, thanks, I'll try both solutions.
Both Burners are on the same ide cable though... i would think that if the cable was bad though that it wouldn't work at all :\ *shrugs* i've seen weirder things though heh...
thanks for the info
