@xcusco:

The drive you want didn´t exist.

There only 3 non-DVD-writer that can read DVD-RAM:

LG GDR 8163

Toshiba SD-M 1912 / Samsung TS 352

MSI X52 (Combo-drive)

I don´t have the X52, so I don´t can say anything.

But the LG and the Toshiba/Samsung are far away from fast.

A very good drive (but without DVD-RAM) is the AOpen 1648 AAP. Fast and not very loud

MSI 16x DVD-ROM can also read DVD-RAM, but is not a very fast reader in general.

The drive you're looking for is the old TOSHIBA SD-M1712 with a hacked firmware. Perhaps also SD-M1612 revision B. 8)

The Lite 165/166 and Toshiba 1712/1612 were EOL.

MSI DR 16 V is not avaible in every country (like here in Germany)
