how to reuse dvd+rw?

Postby msuiter on Tue Jul 08, 2003 11:01 am

i burned my very first dvd+rw using vegas 4 + dvd software. everything went fine and it worked in my home dvd player. now, i want to wipe all the data off it and reuse it. what's the best way to make this disc appear it just came out of the shrink-wrap? InCD gives options of erase and format. i tried using erase but when i tried to burn it in another application (adobe photoshop album) it didn't like it. i would think format would make it usable like a floppy.

thanks.

The Format option in InCD will format the disc with a UDF filesystem. If you want to wipe the disc clean, go into a program like Nero and do an erase.

You can either do a quick or full format.

Quick format just erases the reference table for the data. Takes about 1 minutes. Then you just overwrite.

Full format erases everything and puts the disc back @ a pristine state. Takes abotu 25-30 minutes.

i think, after formatting with InCD to the UDF filesystem, if you want to reuse the disc (like it was new) you need to full-erase it, i don't think quick-erase will work.
quick-erase works if you used the disc as a data disc, burned it with a program like Nero, not formatted with InCD for packet writing.

it seems my adobe photoshop album is being stupid. i tried quick erase and full erase and it didn't like it. it seems to only like brand new dvd+rw discs.
