InCD/Nero5 problem

Postby EEG161 on Sun Dec 22, 2002 1:56 pm

I can't seem to figure this out. I have Nero5 and InCD (latest versions) installed on a W2K machine. Windows is all patched and up to date and otherwise working just fine, except when I use InCD, even after I remove the CD from my Plextor CDrw drive tray, I can still see the volume label and I can even open the drive and see the folders and files still there! I can even drag&drop, copy/paste and delete files and folders from the "empty, ghost, phantom CD" that is not in the tray!?????

I have 512mb. memory. Everything goes back to normal once I reboot.
This information is staying somewhere in "memory" or in a cache, and it's not being flushed when I remove the InCD formatted CDRW.

This happens with any CDRW. I've reinstalled Nero/InCD and Windows.
I've used different media brands. I've updated my plextors firmware.
Nothing resolves this. Does anyone know about this type of problem?
Please advise.

EGG161:

A couple of basic questions. If you insert a pressed CD-R disc into your burner, does Explorer recognize it immediately, and stops "seeing" it upon ejection? What does Nero InfoTool| Configuration say about Autorun for your burner, and possibly for other drives? If you have a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM as well, does it refresh properly upon disc ejection? Do you have these strange symptoms while using Explorer only? Did you try to copy, rename and delete from a Command Prompt window (Start| Run cmd, or Programs| Accessories)? Did you try to fill up a disc with data up to 500MB, say? Which version of Nero/InCD are you running? After reinstalling W2K and Nero/InCD, did you install any other burning programs or CD recording plugins? For plugin-related problems, you take a look at

EGG161:

Sorry for not replying earlier, but I was away for holidays.

Well, your initial message only mentioned InCD, but my current bet would be that your problems could be due to conflicts with DirectCD, Adaptec's burning plugin of WMP, and Iomega ZIP drivers.

My usual advice would be to remove the potentially conflicting drivers in order to see if your problems persists for a clean installation of InCD alone. However, recalling your earlier exchanges with Inertia, I would advise you to ask Inertia for help if you insist on running both InCD and DirectCD on your box.

Anyway, you may start by toggling Autorun to see if it helps.
