Lite-On DVD Players

Would it no be great if this player had a built in ampli- decoder for center, surround and sub- woofer (40Wrms+40Wrms+80Wrms)
(5.1 and 7.1 configs become expensive, redundant and space consuming)

Kindly give your views.

I would want something like a 2.1. The Centre goes on top of the monitor, the surround behind me and I can stach my sub anywhere. Budget, space and redundance in channel content is forcing me to try this new variation. I am sure it will be better and a lot, lot cheaper.
I can make the decoder for this [Lt & Rt to Cent, Surr (without dialogue leakage) and Sub] but who will make the chip for it? And market it?

What do you guys think of 2.1?

I have one here, the 2001, and it's pretty good. If you do a search for my posts I responded to another thread about it detailing what I've found so far. it's not perfect yet but they keep working to make it better. I believe there are quite a few threads here and many other places with comments on it. Do some searching and you'll have a good idea if it's for you, I like mine fine and will wait out the firmware updates and hacks that are sure to come.
