Lite-On LDW 451S problems with EAC

Postby Cerebus Jam on Mon Dec 22, 2003 11:28 am

After installing my 451S, I went into EAC to do my standard check of what sorts of things the drive supports. I inserted a test disc that I created with one of my well-defined drives, and tried to do a lead-in/lead-out/offset check...the drive light flickers once or twice, and then nothing happens. It hangs EAC, and the only way to get back from the hang is to eject the CD, and then the offset test is aborted.

Does this sound like any sort of problem someone has seen? I have successfully copied data from the drive to my computer (both DVDs and CDRs) so I have doubts that it is the IDE cable (it *is* a cheapo round cable, tho). I'm using ForceASPI 4.6 for my ASPI layer, so that's probably not a problem.

Abit KD7A motherboard
Duron 1.3 GHz processor
Windows 2000
512 MB RAM

Thanks for your help in advance.

I have a simlar problem. My 451S just doesn't like EAC for some reason. I haven't had a chance to investigate further, as I am more interested in +R/-R performance, but please post more info if you have any new developments.

I am not so technically savy as the rest of the group here, but I will offer my observations WRT EAC and 451S as I continue to experiment.
