BD-R Media Drops To $4.60 In Japan

Blank Blu-ray Disc (BD)-R (recordable, write once) discs produced by Taiwan-based CMC Magnetics and Ritek on an OEM basis are available for sale in Japan at a retail price of 499 yen (US$4.60), much lower than those for BD-R discs produced by Japanese makers, according to the Chinese-language Economic Daly News (EDN) newspaper.

Wow... that's coming down quite a bit faster then I expected. But with market demand, and a growing market, and now some Taiwanese manufacturers going at it, it's not THAT surprising!
