Media Mail

What was that?

Media Mail

Jeesh, just recently had one of the worst Media Mail experiences ever. Took *FIVE* days coming from just Iowa! That's just nuts!

Heck, I am having one now that I consider to be rather humurous! How else can you take it?

Ordered some media from Newegg, and tracked the order through FedEx. The order was sent from California, and was picked up early on Monday morning by FedEx. The packaged arrived here, in Cleveland, this Thursday, and was actually on the delivery truck on Friday, BUT the FedEx site seem to indicate that the delivery wasn't due until this coming Monday, and so the package went back to their facility!

I can't figure out the logic of that one!!! Oh, there was somebody home the whole day on Friday, so I know that they didn't try to deliver it.
What is this life, if full of cares...

Rule #1: Media Mail is ALWAYS slow, and always slower than regular mail.

I'd rather package media in something safe and send it priority mail if possible, unless said media is vulnerable to magnetism, such as a VHS or DAT tape. There's a definite use for Media Mail if you're sending vulnerable stuff like that, but the price you pay is in slower speed.

PadG,

ROFL, you should really post that in the FedEx thread too.

Usually my Media Mail takes 5 days all the way to California, but 5 days from just Iowa, that's the worst I've ever had!

I don't see what the complaint is about. The USPS explictly states that Media Mail could take anywhere up to 14 or 21 days (I forget which). Sure, it's sad to see a package take 5 days from Iowa to Minnesota, but as a consumer, you can't complain much since the delivery company made it fully clear how long it could take.

Had this been a UPS or FedEx Ground package, where the date of delivery was guaranteed, then I could see a valid complaint.

When did FedEx start guaranteeing their ground service?

Doesn't UPS guarantee the arrival date? I figured if UPS did, then FedEx did too. Competition is fierce, you have to do what your competitor does to stay alive.

UPS does, but even 6 months ago I'm sure FedEx didn't.
