memorex mrx-525g help!

I just bought this drive and it read a data cd one night and now it will not read any more data/audio cds but it will read dvds. I tried to look for drivers but can not find any. I have taken it out and reinstalled it and it still will not work. Any help with locating drivers or what to do to get it to read cd's is appreciated.

There aren't really any drivers for optical units-- they usually just work or they don't.

Have you tried both pressed (store bought) and CDR discs? Have you tried a different IDE cable?

Did you buy it new or used? It sounds like the laser is having issues. If you bought it new it's probably best to just return it. If you bought it used, it might be bad.
