I can't get my LG 4163 DVD Burner to burn these discs at 24x, they top out at 16x for some reason, and I have the latest A104 firmware. Is it just this way with Memorex discs?

I bought some of those, once upon a time, not knowing any better.

In the fulness of time, I buy only Verbatim for RW, both CD & DVD.

My Lite On CD Burner had to have Smart Burn disabled before it would write my new 700mb 24x RW discs at 24x. It was a 16x flatline until I figured that out.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I tried using the disc in my brother's AOpen 52/32/52 drive and it picked it up at 24x. I will give it a shot in my sister's PC, she's got that Samsung combo drive. I will also try disabling the overburn protection and see what happens. Thanks.

Still no luck, I guess a future firmware update might do it, if a new one ever comes.
