NEC 2510a problem. DVD's stutter, HD light stays on too.

Okay, I just changed out my motherboard/cpu to a Asus K8V SE Deluxe and AMD64 3200+, but this drive still has problems. The drive burns okay, but has problems reading DVD's and slows down my whole system when accessing a CD.

My HD light stays on continuously and flashes in-sync with the 2510a light. Even if the 2510a is just reading a DVD. I find this odd. The drive also stutters when reading DVD's. It's like DMA is not on, but I checked and it IS on!

I'm using WinXP pro with DMA on. Drive is set to Master, on it's own IDE cable, no other drive is on the cable. Updated to 1.16 firmware. Tried different IDE cables (40 and 80pin).

Anyone else have these issues with their drive?
Is there any other firmware I can try?

To fix the LED problem, try setting the drive to a slave on that cable.
