I have oportunity to get this drive for $ 29 is it worththat money or not.

It's a good drive. All around good or decent burning quality on most media.

A mere 29 bucks would be a great deal for that drive new... I just figured he was buying it off of someone second hand.

$29 for the NEC is definitely a better buy.

The Pioneer is probably the better burner, but the NEC should do very well also.
