these are the new Lacie dual layer drives.

Anyone know who makes these, if they ARE rebadged? I would love to know. I would assume NEC or Liteon?

Lacie says these drives ship in late June.

Any help is appreciated, thanks:D

They are expensive. Newegg price of ND-2500A is $70 and not much higher for ND-2510A.

The 2510 is dual layer. Keep in mind that the prices Kenny is quoting is for OEM drives. The Lacie's come with software, etc. and in the top three instances, are external. Remember too, that LaCie has traditionally catered to Mac users. They're used to paying more.

Anyone know of a 4X +/-/R/RW slimline USB or USB/FW drive?

Looked @ Lacie/LiteOn/Pioneer/Addonics, but RW speed is either 2X or 2.4X, looking for 4X. 708UF is too big in terms of form factor.
