Same strategies but still some "unknown" (default bitsetting ?) differences...

I don't understand why it is showing up as 4x when the link, that wesociety posted, shows that it will allow you to burn at 8x.

Is there two different versions of Ritek R03?

Wesociety,

Thank you for the link :)

I've wondered about that since the NEC has three different Ritek R03 listings. Two at 8x, and one at 4x.

Code: Select all
52 49 54 45 4b 00 00 00 52 30 33 01 01 -> [RITEK   R03  ] 2.4 4.0
52 49 54 45 4b 00 00 00 52 30 33 02 01 -> [RITEK   R03  ] 2.4 4.0 6.0 8.0
52 49 54 45 4b 00 00 00 52 30 33 03 01 -> [RITEK   R03  ] 2.4 4.0 6.0 8.0

I must have missed that first Ritek R03 that only burns at 4x. Thanks for letting me know there was a another one.

If there are 3 different Ritek R03's listed, there must be 3 different versions. I guess the people that can't burn their media at 8x must have the version that only burns at 4x version.

If somone buys any Ritek R03 media and it won't burn at 8x, I would send it back. It's advertised as 8x media and should burn at 8x.

Yes there are various revisions of RitekR03 media.
RitekR03 rev 01
RitekR03 rev 02

Many burners limit the RitekR03 rev 01 to 4X max.
I have quite a few Ridata RitekR03 rev 01 and they burn excellently at 8X.
I use Herries' 107v2b5 to enable 8X burning on this media.

There's a revision 3?! #-o Never heard of it...

Rev. 1 can do 8x nicely if using the right strat...

Now the funny thing is that rev. 1 is often sold as 8x media and rev. 2 sometimes gets sold at 4x media. What is Ritek thinking?! :-k

I've probably said this before, but I LOVE these CDRL emoticons. Who else thinks that CDF needs to adopt these emoticons? :robot:

My mistake, I've never heard of rev3 either... reference deleted.
Yeah it's pretty crazy that the rev1 media is sold as 8X and most fws support it at 4X. :^o
And then you have the rev2 which is sold at 4X and most fws support at 8X. ](*,)
LOL!
