Doesn't work for me either. I think KenW jumped the gun a little...

Ya! I found it by doing what I like to do , look at the link to last update and then edit it to next number. I do this with software and fw to check all the time, but it looks like once plextor noticed people downloading it, they pulled it. I guess they dont like us getting it early. :(

hahahahahaha, that's TOO funny. I check like that sometimes, but since it's almost never worked for me, I don't bother doing it too often.

I love the forums, and I like to do little extra for them, even if I dont always agree with all the moderators on all the forums. To me if website posts something even if its not linked yet to a page, but its open to download, its fair game for said downloading. If plextor wanted to not have people get at new px tools they would not have posted it on public accessable server in an unprotected folder. ;)

Exactly. I love the forums too because I can usually get program & firmware updates before the manufacturers decide to "officially" release them. From what I've seen on this forum, most folks jump at the chance for an early release whether it's hardware or software!

Thanks again KenW!!

KenW, i did not mean that i think you did something wrong!

i sometimes do the same trick you did :D

as for what you said
If plextor wanted to not have people get at new px tools they would not have posted it on public accessable server in an unprotected folder.
i don't think you're right, i think it's just an oversight on their part (probably didn't think of that one).

but thanks for the link anyway.

Your welcome, I find cdrlabs, to be a fine set of forums and people here are very nice and usually un-biased in their posting. They tell it like it is, good or bad.

IT'S BACK

Postby Rich on Mon Nov 01, 2004 4:21 am

Hi I just went by Plextools.com and there it was. This was on SundayNight at 10:16 pm. That's about 3:16 am EST.

I downloaded it and will load it and check it out.

I just installed it and have to reboot.

I can't test it until tomorrow.

later, Rich

So far it's been pretty buggy based on my initial experience with the version that Plextor pulled immediately on October 28th!

Perhaps they made some last minute changes [-o<

They both had a creation data on exe file of oct 22nd so I think the pulled one and one released Nov 1st are the same. but I'm open to correction :)

Here's something *NOT* mentioned in the Plextor changlog...

They've changed how Jitter/Beta are tested. Now the setting for -0.5 - +0.5 yields the same results as the setting for -0.05 - +0.05 did in earlier versions.

This means that if you were scanning with -0.05 - +0.05 on Plextools 2.16 (or earlier) you now want to switch to -0.5 - +0.5 to get comparable results.

From what I've learned from one of my sources, this brings Plextor's Beta testing very close to a CATS Analyser's Assymetery testing scores, since before you had to multiply the results by 10 to get around the same value.

So I'm considering this a good change... but a bit annoying that they didn't mention it!! Also annoying is that Plextools is now a little unstable, as it's now crashing on me every once and a while :o

It was crashing so much that I decided to uninstall it!

Thanks for the info Dolph!
