News of CD-R/CD-RW Drives

Hi,

This is my first post.

I want to arcive my music as data Flac files and have been using the above.

I read a review and they are supposed to be very high quality.

Any views on this?

It does say on packet suitable for pictures that doesnt mean that they would not be suitable for music data files does it?

I tried using Nero CD-DVD Speed 2.11 yesterday. In the CD quality test (Extra > CD Quality Test) i always get an error message when i press "start" if i have the "Report C1 errors" checkbox enabled. It says "Error initializing test."

This happens with both my Asus CD-RW drive and my Plextor CD-ROM drive. If i disable "Report C1 errors", everything works fine. Does anyone know why this is happening?

I have seen some tests done by K-Probe, and it looks very good. Sadly i don't have a Lite-on writer, so i can't use it.

What would you say is my best option for a testing utility then? I have tried CD Diagnostic, Nero CD Speed and CDCheck. Isn't there any better option than that?

My great Yamaha 3200E dropped dead after only 1 year and I purchased the LG 8525B. I have not been able to find a review on this one.The Drive seems like a cheap version of previous LG drives.Is this Drive any good ?
Does anyone have any info or feedback on this burner ?

Another question from the newbie!!

I have been using my Memorex Dual-X to burn DVD backups with great success (thanx to everyone in this forum who has helped me), and I am moving on to backing up PS2 games.

I have no problem backing up games that are DVD-based, but cannot back up anything that is CD-based.

I am using Alcohol 120% and Swap Magic discs in my PS2.

The backups will play the "prequel" ...

When I try to run CD Doctor v1.04, I get the error:

"Can't get disc maker data. Missing manufacture.txt file or ASPI layer"


Any suggestions as to what could be wrong ?

My CDRW is a LiteOn 52327S connected on the 2nd IDE port as Master

Some Packs & Spindels say "Made in Taiwan" & some say "Goods of EU Origin"


Does anyone have any thoughts/experiences as to which is the Better Quality one ?? Taiwan or EU Origin ??
