News of CD-ROM and DVD-ROM Drives

Burned some TDK 4x disks at 6-8x no problem. Just wondering what the easiest to use software combo is for taking a DVD movie and making an exact duplicate copy of it for a back up.

Hi:

I have a HP desktop and when I place a DVD disc in the DVD drive it just spins and eventually locks up to stop it from spinning.

I would assume the DVD drive has gone bad, but I do not know for sure.
Any suggestions and/or recommendations will be appreciated.

I was just given this unit from my brothers machine.

It is a Sony 16x DVD Rom model 1621 - it is manufactured in January 2002, so it is relatively "old".

It is running the 1.6 firmware.

I run WinXP Pro.

DVD video is perfect - I use Power DVD 5

***BUT***

I have no audio - it appears NOT to be transmitting the audio through the IDE cable [ as XP is ...

Ive been pondering for a while why my dvd rom drive using CH12 firmware does not work with kprobe and i had a play in nero cd/dvd speed cd quality test, today i realised unchecking the show c1 errors box and running the test ois fine and dandy but ticking the box and running the test brings up a error box saying could not run test, kprobe has no option to only use c2 error ...

Go into My Computer, I don't see my CD Drive and CD Writer
Look in Device Manager, only see

Intel Bus Master IDE Controller
and
Primary IDE Channel?

Where's my secondary?

What do I do?

my nec dv-5800a dvd drive wont recognise any cdr's i put in only dvd disks i though they could recognise both is ther a cure

I recent;y ripped Freaky Friday. It took me 15 minutes. I then lent it to my friend who ripped it with his samsung drive and it took him 9 minutes! I did a speed test and here are my results:



Why is it so slow? I used the no limits firmware and I'm pretty sure DMA is enabled

I have Toshiba DVD-ROM in my Dell Notebook. It does not read DVD-R and DVD-RW. Nero Info Tool says that it supposed to read DVD minus media. I got the lastest firmware installed, but it too old (Aug, 1999).

Is there any way to solve this problem?

If not, is it a "true" Plextor? I know that their 54x CD-ROM is a Mitsumi...

Any reason to get it of a Lite On 166S? Other than that is says "Plextor" on it ? :wink:
