What tool would you recommend to analyze burned CD's/DVD's?

I just downloaded KProbe, but I still didn't get how can I analyze the C1 and C2 errors on a burned DVD :oops:.

I have the follow configuration:
Duron 700@933MHz, 256MB sdram, IBM DTLA 30GB ATA100 and Plextor 712
I noticed i can't burn DVD-R a more than 6X!
How I can increase the burn rate without changing my old pc?

On web sites like Circuit City, they offer products for sale, with "user reviews" of the product. In their dvd recorder section, half the reviewers always say something like, "This is a great product! I copied all my movies from VHS to dvd."

I thought VHS movies were copy protected for the last 15 or 20 years. Is it that easy to copy VHS to DVD using a standalone DVD recorder?

I'm using firmware 1.12 on my Pioneer A07. Besides adding support for new media, has the write quality improved on any media? If so, which ones? Which firmware is the best one? I was thinking about upgrading my firmware and I wanted to make sure which firmware was the best.

Just wondering if the Maxell DVD-R 8X (made in japan/ mostly like ty, but not sure) any good compared to its 4X version (made in Japan) in quality wise?

I am planning on getting either the LG 4160B or the Pioneer 108 later this week. What's your take with these drives with the Maxell DVD-Rs? or the +Rs? I'm mainly looking for a drive that has very good writing qualities on the DVDs.

I heard that (from reading this forum) that some of you are burning DVDs at 16X even when the DVD media is rated for 4X/8X and I am just wondering how can you tell if a particular burner can actually do 16X?

I have the DRU-710A and using Sony's own 8X DVD R+ disc, I can burn at 8X under 8 minutes with no problem, however this particular burner is rated for 16X using DVD ...

I've had some problems with my Sony DRU-530 lately, all of a sudden it stopped reading DVD discs of all sorts after 6 months of use.
