DVD reader for low quality/scratched media

I am looking for best reader for low quality/scratched DVD-R disks. "Best" means drive that can recover most sectors from disks with hi PIE/PIF values.
I used couple of such disks with PIF ramp at the end and compared different drives (DVD-ROMs and DVD-writers) for maximum % of recovered data.

My results:

Pioneer DVD115 23% 32%
AOpen DVD1648/AAP 86% 70%
Toshiba SD-M1712 89% 73%
Sony DDU1621 95% 76%

Hi. I replaced my internal TDK CD burner with a Mad Dog Dual Layer 8x +/-R and I have problems. With the TDK, if I placed a blank CD in the drive, Windows used to ask me how I wanted to burn it. I don't get any such popup with the DVD burner. However, it does play audio CDs and DVDs. It came with a Nero which I installed. Nero only lists my hardrive as ...

Problem with Decoder Pack 2.2

I bought the decoder pack so the family could watch DVD's on our computer. We normally use Windows Media Player, so I got this to suppliment the WMP, as recommended by MS. I downloaded the Pack and installed it on the computer, simple enough.
Now my problem, it does not decode some of my DVD's. I read the FAQ on the Sonic site and it said that some DVD's might not be readable. OK, but ...

NEC 3520A Retail?

I see newegg has the NEC 3520A OEM beige for $70 and the black w/SW for $74. I saw the review of the 3500A and saw that it had ulead moviefactory.
Anybody know:
1) if the 3520A comes with ulead moviefactory?
2) if this is included with the OEM version?
3) where I can get the retail version?

Is it too new to get this info yet?

Will Rickards
