I'm looking for the preferred method/software for capturing a movie from TV onto DVD (+R/RW or -R/RW) using an STB DVR; then loading it to the hard drive on my PC. Using the PC, I want to edit it to clean up any unwanted scenes, commercials, etc.; add an opening title; then burn that compilation to DVD +R.

I am quite familiar with using DVD Shrink to edit & burn movies when backing them up ...

I'm having problems with a 5 month old LG GSA 4081b. When I initially installed it it worked perfectly, recording on any type of blank DVD I used. Now it will read DVD's and CD's that have already been written to but will not recognize a blank DVD that I want to record onto.

When the DVD tray is closed it say DVD-RAM Drive (D:) when opened it changes to CD Drive (D:)

I have a NTSC DivX video (AVI container) @640x352. I converted the video file to DVD using Nero Vision Express 3.0.1.14 and the final DVD is created in NTSC format also. But I have a green line in the bottom of the video. As you can see in this image:



What can I do to avoid the gree line?

Anyone noticed/heard of that this drive has a rip-speed-limiter "feature"? If I am not mistaken my old Pioneer A06 could rip alot faster (with the appropriate firmware of course :)). Anyone knows if a similar "fix" is available for the PX716 drive since it is really slow ripping...

When I updated my Pioneer A07 drive to the the 1.18 firmware from the 1.12 firmware, I have noticed randomly the drive will make a high pitch noise when reading a burned dvd. It happens doing a nero dvd speed transfer rate test, surface scan test, and file test. I can't remember if it was there with the 1.12 firmware.

I just installed a NEC ND-3500 in a Win98SE machine and I am having problems burning DVDs using Nero Ultra. Just after caching of files reports complete I get a message saying the burn process failed at whatever speed (I've tried 4X-12X). got me a P4P800-E Dlx w/3.2C, Kingston 1G HyperX 3200 and a WD 200GB SATA.
I set everything up and loaded drivers for the SATA hard drive (i think)
so 1 hard drive, boots up fine...then i go to system devices...under the IDE ATA drives, it shows my dvd-r as ultra dma mode 2, and the hard drive under primary ide as ultra dma mode 5.
i'm thinking that a normal PATA 100 ...
