I just pulled a Samsung TS-H653A (same model as SH-S183A?) from an old computer I found in the garbage. It seems to work fine, but is it better or equal to my old Pioneer DVR-112D in terms of burn quality? I mostly burn CDs and +DL discs.

I'm having issues with my blu-ray drive burning rewritable blu-ray media

Drive: LG BT10N HL-DT-ST BD-RE _GBW-T10N
Discs: TDK BD-RE 50GB DL Ver 1.3 1-2X.
Laptop: Lenovo X200T 1.8Ghz, 4Gb RAM, 160Gb Harddrive with plenty of free space
System: Windows 7

Anyone know where to buy some 100GB BDXL media? Looks like TDK, Sharp and Panasonic make the discs but of course they're not available in the US.

After months of waiting, LG has finally released the 8421 firmware for their N1A1, N1T1 and N2A2 NAS devices. The most notable changes are an updated UI and OS X Lion AFP support. Sadly, there still is no AFP fix for their older NAS devices yet.

I've already done a fair amount of research on this, but no much luck so far.

My LG BT10N (Panasonic UJ-240 in an enclosure) is rated to burn at 4X for BD-R DL and 2X for BD-RE according to http://www.lgsolutions.com/products/digital-storage/optical-disc-drives/blu-ray-drives-slim.

Whether I use Nero (verify disc is unchecked) or Windows drag and drop it takes around 5 hours to burn one disc. My calculations support http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray_Disc_recordable, which says 48mins for 4X!

I just read over at The Windows Club that you can download some Ashampoo software titles for free. I've never used their software but always wondered how well their burning software worked.
