Private copying levy in Canada.

Hi guys.

How does private copying levy work in Canada? I checked the details of the same and found that the government charges $0.21 per CD-R/CD-RW(non-audio). More information can be seen at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_copying_levy#Canada

I checked the price of Verbatim 52X CD-R on http://www.newegg.ca. Interestingly I found that they were selling it around $22. So, if you multiply $0.21 x 100 for a spindle pack, the levy itself comes to about $21.

I was wondering how ...

How are Imation 16X printable DVD+R discs?

Hi there.

Has anyone tried the Imation printable 16X DVD+R's? If so, hows the write quality?

I saw the same at a shop at a very good price, about $16 for a spindle of 50. Sony normal, not the printable one's, cost around $20.

Thans!

Using Memorex DL for storage only?

Are these discs simply good for only throwing out or are they good enough to use for storing divx/xvid encodes? How long will they stay useable after storage...only a few years or longer?

Hi All

I'm having a hard time finding a program that will help me determine burned blu-ray disc quality. I've used PlexTools pro. for dvd drives and it reports c1 c2 and cu errors. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks (^_^)

DVD Identifier database Update

It took a long a time. But finally there is a new database update available.

The new update should bring massive improvements for the recognition of Blu Ray and DVD+R-DL media. Additionally it will now finally be able to identify the manufacturers of some really old media.

Updates can be downloaded by the program, or from the website dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com
