It's a DVD+RW drive. It doesn't support DVD+R at all.

My mistake. I guess I don't know the difference between a DVD+RW and DVD+R. Enlighten me please.

The 208 was a first gen DVD+RW drive. Supported only the DVD+RW format.

The 228 was Philips' second gen drive. It supported both DVD+RW and DVD+R.
