Pine DVD-Rs

Postby seaegg on Thu May 15, 2003 2:45 am

Does anyone know who makes Pine DVD-Rs? I noticed Future Shop was selling a pack of 5 for $18.99 CAD but was very wary of buying them without knowing the manufacturer. They're also rated at 2x which means little these days with quality control being what it is. I needed some reliable media that will burn right to the limit of the DVD without pixelations and was going to buy 5 Apple for $24 CAD but if the Pine were reputable I was looking to save myself five bucks.

Just thought I'd let the folks in Canada know that the Pine DVD-Rs selling at Future Shop are actually manufactured by Maxell. The info given by ADVDInfo is: 00 42 00 00 01 40 C1 FD 9E D8 50 00 02 58 0E 11 .B...@....P..X..

At this point I wouldn't bother with any media other than the Princo from MLH. They work really well for me and they're really cheap! ($12 for five 2x discs!)

Hey Phoenix '97, thanks for that tip on MLH I just checked them out and they're a Winnipeg company and that's where I live. Man I can't believe I've lived here for 8 years and never heard of them.
