Pioneer 108 & ripping speeds?

Postby Mystery Man on Wed Sep 08, 2004 8:32 am

Im just wondering what ripping speeds are people getting with encrypted retail dvds with dvd decrypter using 1:10 official firmware. Heres my last line on my log

I 19:57:28 Average Read Rate: 4,837 KB/s (3.5x) - Maximum Read Rate: 6,838 KB/s (4.9x)

I know pioneer cap the ripping at 5X or there abouts. The reason i ask is because a guy on cdfreaks has this result ripping a retail encrypted dvd with 1:10 official firmware.

I 20:34:00 Average Read Rate: 11,701 KB/s (8.4x) - Maximum Read Rate: 16,817 KB/s (12.1x)

I didnt know it was possible because of pioneer's firmware limiting the ripping speeds. I can get ripping speeds of 12x with non encrypted dvd's

Heres the thread

Speeds will differ for single and double layer discs.
