PIONEER 111 Review planned?

Postby steven2874 on Sat May 27, 2006 1:07 pm

Hey Ian, et al, any chance you guys will review the new 111 series PIONEERS? The general consensus is it's their best since at least the 108. You've been fairly critical (in MY opinion) of recent PIONEER drives so I'm guessing you'll pass.

there are 2 problems with reviewing the DVR-111

#1) Pioneer won't send us one. They want us to re-review the DVR-110.

#2) Ian is in the middle of a move, and I'm on hiatus for the moment. We have 2 other potential people to handle reviews, but both are busy.

There is no drive that we WON'T review, but sometimes circumstances prevent us.

For what it's worth, I'd love to review the DVR-111, heck, I want to see if these claims are true from various users, just for my OWN interest. But I just can't do it right now. So for what it's worth, you have my apoligies.

well, if/when the 111 is reviewed here, and it comes out good, i might just have to get one.
might very well be the last Pioneer DVDRW drive ... :(

Thanks for the explanation. I've been using the 111-D > 111-L for two months now (with Buffalo firmware) and believe it to be an excellent all-around performer. Much better on 16X media than the 110.

Pioneer Electronics (USA) seems to have no interest in having anyone review the DVR-111. Initially, they told me that the DVR-111 wasn't coming to the US. That is until I pointed out that it was being sold as the DVR-710.. which oddly enough still isn't on Pioneer's website.

I am planning on reviewing a DVR-111 based drive, but I have a number of other reviews I need to finish up first.
