pioneer dvr 105 questions

Postby machoboy6 on Sun Jun 08, 2003 7:05 pm

why is this drive so cheap now? i saw it going for 164 at this site.

http://store.yahoo.com/livewarehouse/piondvdvcddr.html

when it first came out i was thinking of getting it but them the sony dru500 came out too so i opted to get the sony since it writes dvd+rw and dvd-rw for the same 350 price. sony's drive price hasnt gone down much but the 105 seems like a steal now. is there some defect i dont know about?

and one last thing. my friend said he heard the 105 can burn dvd-r at 4x no matter what the speed of the media is. is this true?

well this is just a bare drive so maybe that has something to do with it. Plust with a lot of dual format drives out, I am sure it is forcing the single format drives down in value

Like MonteLDS said, a lot of dual-format DVD writers will be out soon like Pioneer A06. That's why A05 is so cheap.

I also placed my order on an NEC 1300 today, so cheap, only $280CDN.
