Pioneer DVR-107D vs. NEC ND-2500A, Some Preliminary Tests

DVD-R/W, DVD+R/RW, DVD-RAM

Torn...... do i get the necs now or wait for the 107????

Postby HailToTheKing on Thu Jan 08, 2004 4:57 pm

looking for a good burner (actually 7 good burners) for my multi writer. i copy dvds for all the local video people (weddings, school plays etc) so i dont really care about making iligal copies (but once in a while right!!). what i need is the best burner...Nec 2500 @ £93 from www.blankdiscshop.com, or wait a month (and it will be a month) for the pioneer. Which is best? i cant afford to buy these NEC 2500's if they are un reliable, or will make bad coppies! I have a 106 (its for sale btw :) isnt everyones!) so i know pioneer are good. but any idea what price the 107 will be? no point me waiting for it if it is gonna be £130 with no real performance advantage. There are no english reviews of eather drive so what do i do?

tests said nec was bad at some writes, it also said it had trouble reading the second half of dvd9's. Whats all that about, dont sound so good to me!

I wonder if the 107 has the same playback problems that the plex has when burning (8x on 4x media...)
