Thanks. Nice to see a company that issues firmware updates (yes, that's a poke at you LG!)

That's not fair... LG releases new firmware every time they put out a new model drive :D ... It will just cost you 30 bucks or so to get it and throw out your old 30 dollar investment...

I have donated a couple LG drives to schools and non-profit organizations near my home. Or installed them in my older systems. LG makes a great drive but then they don't support it with firmware updates... Been frustrating for me too. I had high hopes for the Samsung SH-S203B, but so far I am not impressed... I'll wait a bit longer before I pass judgment though. My Pioneer DVR-212D is a damn good drive and got better with DVD-R writing as of 1.22 fw.

Hey Ian,

Looks like you 212D firmware link is a bit off:

This new bios doesn't solve my CD problem, ie read/write cd, had just sent email to Pioneer support for RMA.

Yeah, it seems that drives with the CD-R problem might all need to be RMA'd. Kinda bad :(
