Oh, I'm scared; I would never touch those swings etc, and then proceed to screw around with the various playground components.

Yeah, you're right. Those sorts of signs and prohibitions do tend to provoke rebellious qualities.

I should have expected as much. Polyhedrons have a reputation for being no-good hooligans! It must be their hard edges; you never see a sphere causing trouble. :D

My mom swears by Maytag, so that would be the brand I recommend for you. Good Luck shopping.

Thanks for all your replies.

I went to Best Buy and Sears yesterday (I have been away) and I got some conflicting information (as compared to the respective websites) at both stores.
Maybe someone can shed some light on this?

1) SEARS:
Sears.com says $45 for delivery (which includes installation - I confirmed this by phone) and $10 for haulaway.

I went to a Sears store yesterday and was told that haulaway was $20.
I asked if there was a difference between B&M (store) rates and online rates, and was told no.

The salesperson also told me that if you order online, the $45 * delivery fee does NOT include installation. She even cited an example of a customer who returned a washer to the store (he ordered online)
because he was very upset that they had just dropped it off and didn't install it. (Maybe it was an entirely new installation, as opposed to replacing an existing washer...?)
I am a bit confused now, since I was told over the phone that it does include installation by someone who seemed very knowledgeable.

Can anyone confirm that the delivery does include installation,
since Sears is giving me two different answers?

* $49 according to the store, which also didn't make sense, since the rates are supposed to be the same.

2) BEST BUY:

The web site says 'free delivery' for every washer.
The employee at the store said it is $40!
Which is it?

I have narrowed it down to one of those two stores.
Thanks for any info/feedback!

I bought a Kenmore (successor to the top rated model at CR).
It was on sale for $399.xx - more than I originally wanted to spend,
but it came with free installation/delivery ($49) after MIR (yes a MIR for washer delivery :) - and, after doing some research, was found to have extra features I could use: super capacity plus [3.2 cu feet], special quiet technology and a number of other extras such as a porcelain tub etc.)

Total cost was $498 (before $49 mail-in rebate) including delivery, sales tax and $25 haulaway charge.

Thanks for the help guys!

:)
I heard Plextor is the only one working on implementing SMART-LEAK technology, since it costs a lot and will only be in high end models.

Seriously, I believe (I read about it a long time ago) there is a sensor that detects water and emits a beep if it senses the presence of water.
It can be placed on the laundry room floor near the washer.

My washing machine is arriving tomorrow, although I am more excited about the Plextor which is arriving today :)

The delay was due to:
1) I was away on vacation a few weeks ago, just days after it broke,
so I couldn't make a decision before I left.
2) I had to have them come on a weekend, and they were already booked for Labor Day weekend...

Well, my girlfriend let me do some loads before the trip, but I do have a ton of laundry to do, yes :)
I guess I'll be doing laundry tomorrow while my burns on the 708A are running.

They came early this morning.
3 guys. Two carried up the machine. One installed it, while the other two
removed the old machine (I paid $25 extra for haulaway service).

My brother and I both looked on in amazement when the one guy (normal build or even a little small) lifted the entire machine (he didn't push it over the lip of the tub, he actually lifted a 200 + lb washer) into my drain tub, by himself!

They did it so quickly too. The whole thing from him walking in the door to him leaving was about 15 minutes.

I was happy to give them a tip, especially since my place is on the third (top) floor.

The new machine is amazingly quiet!

It is also self-leveling, as Ian stated most machines are.

The strange thing is that the sales woman at one of the two Sears stores had said they weren't self-leveling, even though she knew what she was talking about regarding all the other features, specs, difference between last year's model and this year's model, and model numbers etc...

A plexy 708A, and a new washer, both of which have impressed me!
A nice way to start the weekend off.

Oh, and my $49 delivery rebate (it was a limited time special on machines $399 and over) has already been approved.
