Dell has the Lite-on LDW-401S in stock for $103.46 and the Plextor 708A in stock for $218.66. Both have free shipping and no sales tax in most states. Things are sure looking good.

Ack, I paid $275 for the PX-708A and now it's already down to $219. I knew people said the prices would drop, but this quickly?

Yes, it did drop quickly!

I had to get mine early on (sold all three 4X burners at the same time to maximize their price just before the 708A came out; I did well compared to the prices I paid for those).
Therefore the price I paid was worth it to me.
Besides I knew it would drop.

I will probably get a 2nd 8X burner for my other PC, but for this one I will be able to shop around more and wait more.
I still have money left from my 4X burner sale for that one.

They were $206 each (in pairs) if I had bought on Thursday:
I knew it would be quick to drop in price, but I didn't know it would be quite this quick either:
I could have ordered 2 for $412 shipped from Dell after 10% off and $25 off $300).
Also know that Dell's deals are often out of whack.
I once bought a brand-new-to-market DVD burner there for $228 that was $350 (+ $21 tax) everywhere else, thanks to low base price, 2 stackable coupons and an instant discount

I hesitated on Thursday though, partly because I would have had to sell the 2nd one, although that would have been relatively easy...
I know they will continue to drop over time, so I can wait a bit.
