Possible to burn DVD9 content to a bd-rom BD25?

Postby burticus on Sat Feb 27, 2010 7:24 pm

So being that DVD DL RW media doesn't seem to exist, I've been trying to figure out a way to move a DVD9's contents onto a BD-RE bd25 disc, since the disk capacity is more than sufficient. Transcoding DVD9 down to DVD5 doesn't always produce great results (especially with content like tv shows, etc).

I actually was able to rip a DVD9 and burn it to a BD-RE BD25 using imgburn, but my blu-ray player would have nothing to do with it. I've dug around in imgburn to see if there is a way to alter the book setting but cannot seem to find it.

Anyone have any thoughts? I'm looking at you, Ian...

Thanks.

Hmm... you could take the video content and create a disc using the BDAV format. There's gotta be an easier way than that though.

I did some searching and there's a lot of info on how to convert Blu-ray to play on DVD's but not a lot on doing it the other way. You may want to see if you can convert your VOB's into the m2ts format, which your Blu-ray player should play. I think tsMuxeR will do it.

I wonder how fast that is. I'm looking for the fastest solution... If I wanted to spend more time I could rip the individual episodes to MP4 to play on blu-ray or stream to 360. But that breaks the menus which the wife likes for program detail, etc.

Hmmm.

What about MKV? That will do menus? I'm not sure if the 360 supports it though.
