Headphone socket

Postby lee on Wed Feb 11, 2004 10:00 am

The headphone sockets on my 2 Plextor drives don't seem to work & neither did the ones on my previous drives.

Sound through external speakers, seperate soundcard, is fine.

Does anyone know what the problem is as I would like to use headphones?

I never use the headphone outputs on the drives. Using the soundcard sounds far better. Buy a pair of powered speakers with a headphone jack or get a Y adapter that splits the output of the soundcard to your PC speakers and one for your headphones.

What sound are you trying to listen to through the headphone jack in your CD-ROM drive? The headphone jack will only work for a disc that has audio on it. You cannot plug in headphones to your CD-ROM drive and expect to hear MP3's playing from your hard drive, that's what a sound card is for. To listen to CD's using the headphone jack on the CD-ROM drive, you may need to connect an audio cable from the back of the CD-ROM to the CD-In on your sound card.

Am only trying to listen to CD's in the drives.

Both drives have audio cables connected to the soundcard, one analogue & one digital.

BillyG.

Hadn't occured to me to try the splitter idea. This will suffice as all I am trying to do is avoid unpluging the speakers when I want to use phones.
