Israel's 56th Independence Day

Postby dodecahedron on Mon Apr 26, 2004 2:17 pm

it's tomorrow.

right now i'm sitting in the livingroom with the wife, we're looking at the fireworks in 4 different towns in our vicinity (our apartment is 8th floor, we have a very good view of the entire area to a large distance).

put a few beers in the fridge for tomorrow.

tomorrow about 99% of Israelis will be celebrating the Independence day in the traditional way - barbecuing in various public parks/gardens etc.
i'll be with the wife at her parents :o ...oh well nothing's perfect

LOL well what you learn from news and movies !

that film might give you a picture of what it was like, but in 1948!!!

and the news, well, no need to elaborate on that.

had such a discussion here in CDRLabs long ago. some guy though we live in tents here and ride camels to school LOL.

XXX in a nice flik in some ways, that snowboard scene was rather orginal i thought.
also the "test" scene in Columbia.

but apart from that it was rather silly. the motorcycle scenes were idiotic as is to be expected.
reminded me of the Charlies Angels 2 bike race scenes, but that film didn't take itself seriously like XXX did, so the bullshit was acceptable.

what do americans have about these old muscle cars? the GTO, and there was a car like it in 2 fast 2 furious. what's it called? Cougar or something?
apart from having 2000 horsepower they're good for nothing but drag!

He wasn't to bright ehhh?XXX was dumb. One of those movies you watch then forget 30 minutes later.I'll take "die hard" any day.
Yeah GTO's(mid 60's to early 70's)are nice but expensive to buy or even fix up here.Don't know why americans like em so much,I guess we have the space and the speed to do that to cars. Those 2 fast 2 furious cars are mostly for guys between 18 and 30.Those cars aren't that a big deal. These guys think cars with nitrous can beat anything. :D Wrong!!!

I know enough about Israel from reading, not Exodus.I've only discussed Israel with one other person and he was Jewish and hadn't even been there.I knew as much as he did.I don't think he was too into the faith.I agree with you on the news.Never believe what you hear.My uncle who now lives in NZ thinks everyone in the US has a swimming pool!!!!
Poor misguided newswatcher.

There are actually two different stunt people in that scene. If you watch closely, you can see that he rides two different boards!

yeah, Die Hard were great films, all of them.

as for the news etc.:
it's like people think eveyone in israel is getting shot in terrorist attacks.
same as:
people (from outside the US) think everyone is getting mugged in the street, carjacked or mass-murdered.

go figure.

i wouldn't notice anything vin diesel is in.Guaranteed to be a waste of money.

yeah that's what a lot of people think about america.I was in zimbabwe back in 96 and the people I stayed with thought the same thing about the violence.I said yeah people get killed here but you have to realize one thing,we have 280 million people here, what they see on TV is nothing in terms of quantity. They only see what happens in L.A. and other big cities. In the suburbs where most people live in the states it's just boredom mixed in with a little murder once in a while.

I'd argue you still are jewish,

Your bar mitzvah was the first of our little group of guys who survived 8 years of jewish school

be glad then you don't live here, because here most people are'nt allowed to own weapons.
most who are are either security people of some kind or had a gun permit when then were in the army and allowed to keep it.

and when they are it's hand-guns only.

you woulnd't like that very much huh, wicked?
