LiteOn Booktype setting not working

I have a SOHW-812S with US0J firmware. When I run the booktype
utility it says it's changed to DVD-ROM but after I burn the video the
booktype is back to DVD+R. I've tried it with the utllity still running
in the background and with the utility shut down (after perfoming the
booktype change) with the same result. The disks burn properly and
play fine but still remain DVD+R type. Is there something I'm missing ?

I'm pretty sure I asked this question in reply to your post on another forum, but I'll ask again:

What program are you using to check the booktype? My guess is that the program that you're using is not showing you the booktype of the disc, but is showing the actual disc type. Even after a disc has been bitset to DVD-ROM, it is still possible to distinguish it from a true DVD-ROM disc. Some programs show you the true disc type, others show you the booktype. Some, like DVDInfoPro show you both very clearly.

Dave, I just followed your suggestion and checked the disc with
DVDInfoPro and it does indeed show as booktype DVD-ROM.
I mistakenly thought I could check it with the LiteOn bit setting
utility after the burn. I also think I was confusing booktype and
disc type in places, although this is the first time I've asked any
questions on the subject.
