Samsung 352B Combo Drive!

Postby steelly on Wed Jun 30, 2004 12:02 pm

I have a Samsung 352B with 8MB buffer; it's 52/24/52 with 16X DVD-Rom. At about $48.00 bucks, it is a great piece of equipment. It complements my Plextor 708A in DVD writing and burns CDs very quickly!
Absolutely no problems for the last 6 months that I have owned it, and I would recommend this drive without any resevations! Also, look at the evaulations of this drive here at CDRLabs and CD Freaks: It was because of their testing and evaulation that I bought the Samsung 352B with the 8MB buffer. Beware that this drive also has a 2MB buffer at some of the retail outlets. Another feature of this drive is that it reads all of the DVD formats: DVD-R, DVD+R and DVD-RAM. Also, it comes with Nero and Power DVD. I believe it is a great all-around drive to own, just read the recommendations here at CDRLabs and CDFreaks!

You can get a Lite-On LTR-52327S(32x) for as little as $27USD,I have a LTR-52246S(24x) but have never used 24x CD-RW media.
I recommend Lite-On CD writers because:(1)high write quality,(2)can defeat most copy-protection,(3)use KProbe(4)inexpensive.

from what i checked there i saw that Lite-On LTR-48125W, LTR-52246S, and Samsung SW-248F are my best three choices

anybody ever tested these with both lead data and sony cds?

Lite-On LTR-48125W is best with gq/lead data cd-r's but sucks with sony discs

Lite-on LTR-52246S is ok with both sony and lead data cd-r's

and the samsung one was only tested with two cd-r's

should i start 3 new topics? one for each different cd-burner?

would that be a better way to get user opinions of those three drives?

Samsun Compatability!

Postby steelly on Thu Jul 01, 2004 12:06 am

I have the 352B and have burned Sony, Imation, Digital Research and Memorex CD-Rs without a single coaster. I haven't heard of any Samsung products having CD-R compatability problems!

The ASUS 52x as well as Liteon 52x are quite good and reliable, I would give the build quality of ASUS an edge here. I have also heard good things about Benq/Phillips drives and they are quite cheap too.

I still use my LiteON 48125W, I can't say the same for any other CD burner I own, including the LG 8525B, and Plextor Premium drive :o

Nobody had mentioned LG here.I have seen many LG drives and they have worked flawlessly for me.Just thought it was worth mentioning.

I've used both Lite On & LG drives.

Both are damn good, but I'd say Lite On is better overall.

I like the 2 LiteOn drives that I own- the 52327S and the 52246S. Both will write to just about anything, and are great on less than perfect originals.

I have reviewed them personally at
http://www.epinions.com/content_123092242052
and
http://www.epinions.com/content_108293426820

They are both great drives, I would recommend the 52x32x52 at this point for the money.
