External Drive Questions

Postby DogPyro on Sun Jul 11, 2004 11:25 pm

Hi I am planning to buy an external drive.

I would like to buy a sata hd but I don't think there are any enclosures that support SATA hd's but use usb2 or firewire to transfer to the computer.

Are there any enclosures that do this? Or are tehre any sata to ide converters that I can buy so that it wouldnt matter for the enclosure?

Could anyone recommend any enclosures that keeps the drives cool and perhaps have extra usb2 ports on the case?

Also planning to buy a second enclosure for an external dvd burner? Any suggestions?

Thanks. Sorry for the noob questions btw.

SATA is just too new. Go for a firewire connection is speed is critical, I have a USB 2.0 connection on my Western Digital 120 GB. Nice, simple piece of hardware that gets the job done. Everyone should have this type of product in their data storage arsenal.
