LG DVD Rom won't read DVD's

Postby Bornloser on Sun Jul 04, 2004 3:19 pm

It's a model LG DRD8160B. Had no problems before, but it's been a while since I've used it to watch movies. Here is everything that has transpired. Yesterday I purchased an 8X DVD burner. Configured my system as follows: C drive on IDE1 master, DVD rom on IDE1 slave, DVD burner on IDE2 master, CD burner on IDE2 slave. I also have a Maxtor PCI IDE card with 2d HD on IDE1 master and LS-120 on IDE2 master. Everything works except for the DVD rom drive. It will read data and music CD's but not DVD's (neither homemade or retail). I've tried various IDE and cable configurations. Thinking it may be a DVD decoder problem, I uninstalled Power DVD 5, cleaned the registry then reinstalled. Still no go. Also uninstalled and reinstalled all drives. I'm running WinXP Pro with AMD XP2400 and 1GB ram. Need help!

I don't have an answer to your question but I suggest you post your question at: http://duxcw.com/yabbse/index.php. It's a great forum, and pretty much every thread gets a responce. Really knowledgable and active people over there. Hope they can help.

Well......did you try connecting the drive on any other computer? Also is there any new firmware available for that drive?
