Install and Software Question

Postby aisusa on Sat Jul 24, 2004 2:16 am

I just purchased a PIONEER DVR-107D and a LightON 52X32X52.

I got the Lighton because the DVD burner only does cds at 24x.

Any way, how should I hook these up? DVD as primary w/ slave?

Also, the DVD is oem so I get zero software. What should I use?

hook the pioneer as mast and litey as slave, and download nero ultra edition trial version

if you like it, then buy it

What hox said, except I'd get CopyToDVD instead of Nero. Much, much better, IMHO. Lots less buggy, too.

There's also some free burning apps around; the best of which is CDBurnerXP Pro (well, I think K3b is better, but we ain't talking Linux :))...

I Agree with Hoxlund!

The installation arangement works best with the DVD Burner as Master and the CD Burner as slave. I also agree with hoxlund about Nero Ultra 6 free download. Try it, it works great and is compatible with DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter. These two programs are freeware and work great for backing-up your commercial DVD movies :D .

If you have DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter, you don't need Nero to burn the discs - Shrink can output an ISO image and burn it with Decrypter.

Personally, If I have to burn anything with Nero I use 5.5.x. I've had 6.x crash at 98-99% complete more than a dozen times. And with DVD's, that gets costly. Maybe they've got it fixed by now. But then, MS still hasn't got Windows right...
